Medical Assistant, Fontaine Medical Center
Shawna Byrnes 鈥17 always wanted to help people. Her dream was to become a medical assistant but, as single parent, it was not an easy decision to go to college after being out of school for three years. After some time debating it, she finally worked up the courage to 鈥渏ust go for it,鈥 enrolling in the Medical Assisting program at 4Cs.
The bold decision to make the jump was a good one. With the help of financial aid, scholarships, classmates, and outstanding faculty, she thrived in and out of the classroom, became a member of the College鈥檚 Honor Society (PTK) and graduated with honors in 2017.
Shawna was aware of the high job placement rate in the Medical Assisting program but was surprised and pleased to be offered a job before she even graduated.
She now works at Fontaine Medical Center and credits 4Cs for being well prepared for her work experience. Her advice: 鈥淛ust do it! I鈥檓 living proof that it is possible.鈥
